Dr. Bonis E. Byrd, Jr., is the Pastor of Christian Compassion Center (Church Fellowship and Evangelistic Outreach Ministry), a non-denominational and Word of faith Ministry located in Murrieta, California

Born in New York City, N. Y., and raised in Dallas, Texas, he made Jesus Christ the Lord of his life at the age of 13.  He later moved to San Diego in 1967 following a three year tour of duty in the U.S. Army.  In 1984, under the personal tutelage of the late Bishop J. A. Blake, Sr., of Greater Jackson Memorial Church of God in Christ, he was licensed as a minister. 

 

After only one year he was waived for ordination and ordained by the late Bishop J. 0. Patterson, Presiding Bishop of The Churches of God In Christ, International on June 12, 1985 at Page Temple Church of God In Christ, in Los Angeles, CA.

In 1986 God called Dr. Byrd to establish the Christian Compassion Center Church Fellowship (C.C.C.).   Pastor Byrd hosted a weekly radio program which aired on KMJC, 910 AM in San Diego, CA and later a Public Access television ministry; Christian Compassion Hour.

Today, as a Church Fellowship and Evangelistic Outreach Ministry, Christian Compassion Center currently congregates in Murrieta, California.

Dr. Byrd has been active in ministry since 1980, along with his wife of forty-seven (47) years, Dr. Bonnie L. Byrd, they have four children; Khaminee, Stephen, Dena, Christopher Byrd. Pastor Byrd also has a son; Bonis III (from a prior marriage).

Dr. Byrd’s secular experience is in Computer Sciences, he holds an Associate of Science degree in Data Processing, certified in Programming & Systems Analyst to include Applied Physics and Information Sciences at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

 

Dr. Byrd received his Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from St. Stephens Educational Bible College of Los Angeles, California in 1997.
